PEARL Panels Explore Product-Specific Certification and Improved Code of Business Practices March 2010 Also available in PDF format.
AURORA, CO, March 17, 2010 - During the upcoming 2010 Electrical Safety and Reliability Conference & Exhibition hosted by the Professional Electrical Apparatus Recyclers League (PEARL) in Denver, CO, April 24-26, a pair of panels will consider changes to PEARL certification structures, and enhancing the business code of practices followed by all full voting members.
Both panels will be hosted and moderated by PEARL's board members during a three-hour session on Monday afternoon, April 26. Midway through the panel period, attendees will switch panels so that their opinions can be heard on both these important issues. The board hopes to gather member comment and suggestions for future organizational changes, and possible revisions to the PEARL bylaws.
"The Site Inspection and Technician Certification Panel will consider changes to two separate processes: site inspections to become a full-voting PEARL member, and revisions that would certify individual technicians based on specific PEARL reconditioning standard product sections," explained Malcom Frederick, PEARL Vice President and President of Coastal Switchgear & Controls Inc. (Angleton, TX). "It's important to note that we'll only be discussing possible changes to get member feedback at this time. Why does PEARL need Members and Technicians certified by PEARL Standard Sections? Because not all PEARL members recondition all the products covered in the PEARL standards. Having members certified in the PEARL Standard Sections will let end users to know who is qualified, while increasing the PEARL members value and technical skills in the industry.
PEARL Director and President of ROMAC (Commerce, CA), David Rosenfield, will host the Code of Business Practices Panel. "PEARL Code of Business and Ethics is subject to constant review and evaluation by PEARL's Board of Directors, but it hasn't been discussed by an open panel of members and interested business parties since the PEARL board developed the Code 13 years ago. The board feels that greater openness and transparency make for a better organization, and to that end, would greatly appreciate any suggestions, changes, expansions, and updates to the PEARL Code of Business and Ethics. All are welcome."
To attend the conference, interested parties and exhibitors should contact the PEARL office at (877) 287-3275, send an email to pearl@pearl1.org or visit www.Pearl1.org. Corporations that join PEARL within 30 days of the conference will have their conference registration fee applied to their membership dues.
