AURORA, CO, January 8, 2008 – Electrical industry participants will learn about the growing problem of counterfeit electrical devices, how to capitalize on slow markets, and learn the latest techniques for remanufacturing electrical devices during the upcoming Electrical Safety and Reliability Conference & Exhibition hosted by the Professional Electrical Apparatus Recycler’s League (PEARL) in Costa Mesa, CA from May 3-6.
“This year we’ve refocused on helping electricians, distributors, suppliers, and wholesalers deal with the immediate challenges facing the electrical industry, while continuing to educate our members and customers on the hundreds of PEARL standards and procedures for remanufacturing, reconditioning, testing and validating electrical apparatus” explains Mark Stone, PEARL’s Association Manager. “In these days of counterfeit goods, the need for PEARL’s standardized approach to evaluating electrical apparatus has never been stronger.”
National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) General Counsel Clark Silcox will deliver this year’s keynote address on the morning of May 5 with an update on the growing threat of counterfeit devices from overseas. Brian Monks, Vice President of Anti-Counterfeiting Operations at Underwriters Laboratory Inc., and Bill Snyder, from Square D will continue the counterfeit discussion during separate presentations. Other luminaries speaking at the 11th annual PEARL conference include Alan Mirman, PEARL’s counsel with contractual expertise and long experience with the electrical industry from Horgan, Rosen, Beckham & Coren, LLC, who will discuss, “High Voltage Remedies for a Low Watt Economy,” and construction industry expert Ted Garrison, who will outline strategies for working effectively with competitors.
Attendees are invited to arrive at the Westin South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA on Saturday, May 3. A golf tournament at Tustin Ranch Golf Club and bus tours of nearby electrical reconditioning and testing facilities dominate Saturday, while Silcox’s keynote, technical training, issue roundtables, business presentations, and commercial tabletop exhibitions will mark Sunday and Monday. The conference concludes on Tuesday, May 6 with the annual PEARL Business Meeting.
Interested attendees and exhibitors should contact the PEARL office at (877) 287-3275, send an email to pearl@pearl1.org or visit www.Pearl1.org before April 3 to save $100 on registration and secure a good spot in Saturday’s Golf Tournament.
