PEARL Releases Reconditioning Standards for Medium Voltage Electrical Equipment
August 2008 Also available in PDF format. Engineering review completed on 23 technical standards for medium-voltage electrical equipment, including circuit breakers, motor starters, switchgear, transformers, motor control, wire & cable.
AURORA, CO, August 15, 2008 – Electrical supply houses and contractors interested in how to Remanufacture, or Test & Inspect the quality of recycled medium-voltage electrical apparatus now have 23 technical standards as reference thanks to the Professional Electrical Apparatus Recyclers League (PEARL).
Founded in 1997, PEARL is an electrical apparatus recycling trade association that creates, collects, and disseminates information, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the proper recycling and reuse of electrical power equipment. PEARL reconditioned electrical goods are held to a higher testing standard than new electrical apparatus because each device is tested individually rather than batch tested. PEARL reconditioned apparatus also spare the planet from thousands of tons of unnecessary waste each year, and cut the U.S.’ energy consumption compared to manufacturing new product. PEARL’s medium-voltage electrical equipment recycling standards are available for free to the public from the PEARL website.
PEARL’s Medium-Voltage Apparatus recycling standards cover:
As with every PEARL standard, the Medium-Voltage standards have been reviewed by third-party professional engineers (PE).
