  About David Rosenfield

David Rosenfield ROMAC was founded in 1958 by Phil Rosenfield. ROsenfield-MAChinery grew from the scrap and salvage business into a supplier of used electrical equipment and devices. From its earliest days ROMAC began developing procedures to recondition the material it sold and re-qualify it for return to service. By the late 70s ROMAC had ventured into manufacturing, participating in the establishment of MGM Transformer Company and Power Controls Inc.

Years of trouble in the electrical business saw major manufacturers going after a small number of unethical dealers but their voices seemed to paint ALL used and surplus dealers with the same brush. Two of Phil’s sons, Rosenfield brothers, David and Jim, became two of a very few voices from the surplus electrical industry to stand up to the OEMs by replying to each and every magazine article written disparaging the industry.

In 1994, a group of dealers met in Laughlin, NV to discuss some specific issues affecting them all and they agreed at that time to continue the discussion at a further meeting in Denver that same year. That meeting resulted in the formation of a brand new trade association called Professional Electrical Apparatus Recyclers League. Greg Womble and Dave Rosenfield co-chaired that meeting and Womble became the first PEARL President while Rosenfield took the Presidency the following year, acquiring the coveted member number 0000001 certificate. Rosenfield was also the 5th PEARL President.

The earliest members all agreed that safety, testing, and ethical behavior must be the cornerstones of the foundation for a lasting enterprise in the electrical industry. PEARL’s mission statement; “To create a marketable distinction in safety, quality and integrity in the eyes of our customers”, has governed its growth. Rosenfield has been on the board of directors each and every year of PEARL existence but one, guiding, supporting, arm bending, cajoling, pressuring and encouraging for the last 12 years. Rosenfield was just re-elected to the board for his 11th term, this February.
