  Marketing & Newsletter Committee Report
February 2010

Did you know that the electricity used just to make the steel and aluminum for a 2500 kV transformer produces 50.5 tons of CO2, or the equivalent of 8.4 cars driven on U.S. roads for 1 year? Do you know how much electricity reconditioning uses to return that same transformer to perfect operating condition? Less than 1 ton, while employing two technicians for the better part of a week.

That's part of the "Green" story that PEARL's marketing department is developing for publication in our largest electrical industry magazines and, we hope, a major U.S. newspaper or two. We're going to prove that reconditioning really is the ULTIMATE form of recycling.

PEARL marketing has also been busy working with Mark Stone's office to promote our conference nationally through press releases and email campaigns and locally to electrical distributors and affiliates of major electrical associations and unions. In fact, if you're a full voting member, be sure to look out for an email from PEARL Web Guru, Bob Libbey, notifying you that a list of Colorado distributors with addresses and telephone numbers, along with NETA and EASA shops and other electrical businesses is available for download from the PEARL intranet. Just one more benefit for being a PEARL member.

There's a lot more going on behind the scenes, but we're going to save some of the big announcements for the conference in Denver. Let's just say the board has been busy and there are big things on the horizon for PEARL, and for you as a PEARL member.

Until April, here's hoping your business is booming in 2010! And as always, if you have any questions, thoughts, or would like to sit in on a marketing committee meeting, please give me a call at 323-721-5810, email me at dbrosenfield@romacsupply.com, or contact our Publicist, Winn Hardin, at 904-246-8958, or by email at winnhardin@pearl1.org.
