PEARL President Lays Out 2011-2012 Platform
The PEARL organization has had fourteen years of great leadership and success in educating and creating a safer market for our industry. From the beginning, PEARL has lead this industry in setting the standards for reconditioning electrical equipment to insure the industry users have a source to purchase and service electrical equipment that offers safety and reliability.
The PEARL organization has accomplished a lot in the past two years, but we have more work ahead of us. As I enter into my first month of my two-year term, I realize that there are so many things we need to do for the organization and the members, where do I start? How do we get this all done? Just as I have been told many times in my life, one brick at a time; Rome was not built over night, which puts my mind at ease.
As we continue to keep the PEARL mission strong and alive, we must continue to grow and position the organization so that PEARL standards and members represent the highest quality products, offering safety and reliability.
Here are a few goals the Board has discussed that should allow the PEARL organization to keep moving forward: (These goals are not listed in order of priorities)
- Get ANSI to accept and approve the PEARL Reconditioning Standards
- Release Revision 6 for PEARL's Reconditioning Standards and Test Reports
- Develop Technician Certification program with continuing education training credit requirements
- Strengthen our PEARL committees with additional volunteers and initiatives
- Increase our PEARL staff
- Increase the membership
- Increase our conference size
Some of these initiatives will take considerably effort and time. Others, we can move on today. I would like to open the door to each of our members and readers to join PEARL and/or one of its committees. Being a part an organization that committed to making a safer workplace for industry is an awarding experience.
I close with a statement from a man in 1860, the man who signed his name A. Lincoln and was elected the 16th President of the United States:
"The difference between history's boldest accomplishments and its most staggering failures is often, simply, the diligent will to persevere."
Malcom Frederick, PEARL President
