Colossus Tesla Coil in Operation
April 2008. The Tesla coil is one of Nikola Tesla's most famous inventions. It is essentially a high-frequency air-core transformer that converts a low voltage input to an extremely high voltage which discharges in the form of electrical arcs. Tesla coils create extremely powerful electrical fields that can light up fluorescent lights up to 50 feet away without any wiring connection. This video shows the Colossus Tesla coil at Romac Supply undergoing a test run in preparation for demonstration on tour day of the PEARL Annual Conference on May 3, 2008.
